Macrini in the Morning

For decades, Tony Macrini has been the voice of Hampton Roads. A fixture in the region since 1976, Tony has served as a broadcaster, Program Director, and News Director, establishing himself as the News/Talk leader in Southeastern Virginia on NewsTalk 790 WNIS.
The Maverick of the Morning
Maverick-minded, entertaining, and unapologetically independent, Tony delivers the news with no allegiance to any political party. Whether it’s dissecting local politics, covering national elections, or guiding listeners through hurricanes and crises, Tony’s booming baritone voice has become the constant soundtrack for generations of Virginians.
A Legacy of Connection
Tony’s influence extends far beyond the microphone. He has interviewed a storied list of powerful politicians, military leaders, and national celebrities. But his true power lies in his connection to the community. His live appearances draw loyal crowds, and he remains one of the strongest influencers in the market for local businesses.
Community & Service
A tireless advocate for our military and veterans, Tony has dedicated countless hours to charitable causes across the 757. His contributions include:
- Hosting the Symposiums on WWI and the Korean War at the MacArthur Memorial.
- Serving as Emcee for numerous Alzheimer’s Association events on the Peninsula.
- Presiding as the “Honor and Remember” Emcee at Gold Star Family Dinners.
- Championing events for Breast Cancer Awareness (Susan G. Komen) and Eggleston Services.
Award-Winning Excellence
In recognition of his legendary career, Tony is a recipient of the prestigious George A. Bowles Jr. Distinguished Performance in Broadcast News Award from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.
Join the conversation with a local legend. Tune in to Macrini in the Morning, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., only on NewsTalk 790 WNIS.
